We have a foundation!
Today just felt like adventure!
After Jamie woke from her nap we loaded in the car and took a ride. The sun was shining brightly, the white, puffy clouds were moving effortlessly across the sky and moose were on the sides of the road eating twigs. It seriously is so gorgeous and springlike out there.
We pulled in the drive and got out and took a few pictures of the foundation. I am pretty sure Jamie was wondering what the big deal was.
Then as we were pulling out of the drive the sun was shining on the mountains just beautifully and I could see tons of fox tracks in the snow. I tried to get a good picture but pictures never fully embrace what can be seen with the eye. Regardless, it was absolutely beautiful!

Tenting the Foundation
In the winter things have to be done a little different in Alaska. A friend of ours came and cleared the driveway for us out to the house site. Thank goodness for wonderful people who love to serve others. We headed out today to tent the ground to thaw it for our foundation which is going in next week. I am so incredibly excited that things are actually starting to happen.
Corban was in his element out there. Running and playing in the snow, climbing up the piled up snow and playing in the 'tent'. He absolutely loves it out there.
To tent the ground we laid down plastic, secured it with boards and screws and even did a little 'sewing' with nails to keep the seam together. Then you pump heat into it from a big 'ole heater. We also added a diesel heater at one end to make sure it all got thawed. Enjoy the pictures from the morning.

Dreaming
The wind is SCREAMING outside but I am warm inside dreaming of my cute little farmhouse and my acres of land stretching out before my eyes. It is going to happen in all kinds of ways this year and I am so excited. With in the next two months the well and septic will be put in and the foundation will be set. We will then we framing up walls and the floor during our down time. The house plans are drawn and we are so excited.
I wanted to share this picture of Matt from this summer. It will probably be one of those ones the kids look at in the years that follow and comment on how we started out with just land out there. I love it!
Oh and this one. Matt and I took a Sunday drive to the farm one day and found raspberries that we picked and ate!
