Day four and headed home!

Our last day was spent traveling.

Before we left Shawna's house I got a picture of Makenna on the UFO that I used to play on as a kid.

I love that that thing is still in the family.

Everything was closed since it was Thanksgiving so we didn't get to eat anything yummy.

It was a lot of travel and we were glad to get home. 

I was glad I got to show Makenna the house her dad grew up in, the houses I grew up in, the house he built me, the hauntavirus trailer we lived in and her grandparents gravesite.

Arizona Day Three

This morning we said goodbye to Janell and headed to show Makenna the great hole in the earth.

She reaction was, "It's mediocre!"

It was beautiful and we wished we could find a quiet place to sit and meditate but the wind was blowing and it was icy cold.

 On our way back to Chino Valley we decided to stop at the town of Bedrock.

It is this Flintstones attraction that I remember as a kid.

I don't remember going in to the town as a kid but I do remember stopping there.

Well, Kenna and I went in.

I'm so glad that we did because it will be the last chance we ever have.

It was sold to a couple that are turning it into a bird sanctuary where they will do falconry.

We had so much fun!

We just laughed and laughed.

It was crazy windy but we went from house to house and just explored.

It was one of Makenna's favorite things of the trip.

Arizona Day Two

Today was one of those days where heaven touches earth and things that were are changed.

It was so good to be there and see Quayde be sealed to Rachel.

He was over the moon happy.

The ceremony was beautiful and it was fun to have Rissa and Dave seated next to me.

Outside Makenna watched littles and Shawna and her family waited.

After the ceremony we went to a park and had lunch.

Then Makenna and I headed up to Prescott. 

 The first thing Kenna and I did was hike Thumb Butte!

I thought I had hiked it as a kid but I didn't remember any of that so I am thinking maybe I never did.

It was cold and there was ice on the trail.

We weren't able to make it to the top because they locked the gates at 5 pm and we were there pretty late.

It was so nice to get out and stretch our legs though.

 That evening we got Chikfila which was another first for Makenna and then went to the reception.

The reception was in the middle of nowhere Skull Valley.

We drove on a pitch dark dirt road to get there.

Then we froze to death outside.

I seriously couldn't believe how cold it was.

But I got to see people I haven't seen in a long, long time and Travis and his family were there too.

Plus Makenna also got to experience her first Arizona sunset and it did not disappoint!

 

Arizona Day One

After a red eye flight to Arizona we made it in at 6 am!

The weather was so perfect.

We were so happy to be there. 

Our day was spent visiting CC, Marcy, and Janell. 

We ate at Cafe Rio, which was a first for Kenna and she loved it!

I took her to the Gilbert temple, we shopped at Deseret book, had Einstein bagels and we took a nap.

It was a great first day.

The above picture is a sticker that is on the drivers side visor of my car.

There is a reason why it is there.

 The roads out here are horrible.

I question every single day why they have not sanded them.

They are basically 13 miles of sheer ice that we have to traverse to get to the next road which is surprisingly clear.

Well, yesterday, against my best judgment I let Makenna drive her and Corban to seminary on said road.

They never made it to seminary.

They were perfectly fine.

Later they told me that the tire just caught the snow and then the car just fell over.

There are many miraculous things about this. 

There is no doubt that they were being watched over.

 I feel done though.

I am done worrying every single time my kids drive that road.

I am really done with it.

I just keep praying the farm will sell soon.

The car has some damage.

The back window is broken and quotes to get it fixed were between $770 and $850!

The mirror is broken- but I know how to fix that since I've already done it once. 

And the passenger side door no longer opens all the way.

But it still drives.

And we just took some plastic from the broken greenhouse to put over the window.

It seemed appropriate.

Boooring!

Life feels kind of boring right now.

I don't think I was meant to live in the icy, frozen tundra.

I love to be outside doing things.

I might need a more temperate climate.

Makenna has play practice most night and does not have a car yet which means Corban and I are stuck at home alone.

Because Matt has been working like a crazy man and is never here.

I did subscribe to Disney+ and watched the Secretariat last night.

That was a good movie.

Mornings are my favorite.

I spend between 2-3 hours studying my scriptures in the morning.

Depending on when I wake up.

I'm learning some incredible things about women and the priesthood, among other really cool things.

Today I went and observed two seminary classes.

Next week I teach for the entire week and two of those days will be filmed and those two classes will determine if I continue on to student teaching or not.

I'm a little nervous about that, if I am being honest.

But honestly, this whole teach seminary thing was God's idea and if He really wants me to do it than it will definitely happen.

So I can just calm my little pants down! 

Homeschool with Makenna and Corban is going fine.

It's going to take all year for Corban to get through Algebra and for Makenna to get through English though.

Nine days and Makenna and I escape for sunshine.

I can't wait.

The cloudy gloominess is killing me!
