Healing Moments

This picture is a BIG deal.
Gracyn used to live with Rissa when she was first born until about 10 months.
Ruby loved Grace more than anything.
When she was taken from their home and placed back with her father they were not aloud to see her anymore.
It has been years since Ruby has seen Grace.
Well, Jamie was having a birthday party which I was invited to and all Jamie's siblings were going to be there.
So I invited Ruby and Ryker to come along.
This moment that I captured on film is one of healing.
Grace doesn't remember Ruby, but she took to her so fast.
I know her spirit remembers.
And that was all Ruby needed!

Setting Trusses

After nine months since the house burned down, we have made good progress on the new house.
Trusses were set yesterday and today.
Monday they will get finished being set.
We couldn't have done it without help from my brother, Travis, Heath and Corban yesterday.
I'm finding hope and gratitude in the place where I am now.
But it does feel like it is taking forever to move forward.
Just a little bit at a time.

Vacation at the Cabin

My friend Michie let us borrow her RV for Makenna and Kyle to stay in while they were here.
They were staying for two weeks.
Well Dallin and Jessie could only stay for one and they stayed in the cabin. We got it dried in enough so they could do that.
Still not completely dried in.
There is no insulation or ceiling on the roof.
But it worked okay for them.
Well, after they left to go back home, Michie needed her RV back so Matt suggested we move down to the cabin for the last few days and give them our bed.
I was happy to oblige.
It is so peaceful and wonderful down there.
The view is breathtaking.
Now it is a little cold at night and there appears to be a spider problem- daddy long legs, but if you can get over that, it's amazing!
I can't wait until we get the cabin finished and more people can experience the beauty.
We'll take care of the spider problem too!

Trying to Perserve Food

Trying to preserve food has been an interesting challenge this summer.
We still have tons of produce but not any of the things I used to have to preserve it.
I have gathered a few things here and there.
My dad gave me my mom's canning stuff and her jars, which I am so, so grateful to have.
I have been able to do a few things.
I made a few jars of jam, froze peas and strawberries, zucchini relish,  made fruit leather, one jar of pickles and also froze some honey berries.
That is NOT very much.
Matt is going to get a big chest freezer so I can get stuff stored in there.
Canning stuff with out a place to put it is a problem.
I am hoping the house gets done enough that I can use the root cellar, but we'll have to wait and see.
We are running out of time for that.

A Day on the Farm

Today we soaked up as much grand kids as we could handle.
Dallin and Jessie went to the temple and then out to eat to celebrate their 5 year anniversary and we watched the kids.
We spent time in Hammock Town and Matt gave a few tractor rides.
I love having these kiddos around.
Life is just better when we are together.

The Shop is Closed!

Today marks the day when Matt's cabinet shop closed and I couldn't be more happy.
He moved the rest of his tools that he couldn't sell out here to the farm and put them in the connex.
Sam, Dallin and Corban all helped them get moved and it is always fun to see my kids doing things together.
There is always a lot of laughing and joking.
It's been so good to have everyone here.
We also spent some time out on the lake.
Corban and Dallin keep catching fish out there which is awesome.
