Meteor Shower

Word on the street this week is that there is a GRAND display in the northern sky of meteors every night. So we loaded up the back of the truck with sleeping pads, bags and blankets and my friend, Julia came out with her kids and some other people's kids (lol) to watch the show. At midnight we drove to the end of the driveway to have a full open view of the sky. It was completely clear and little by little it got darker and darker until the whole sky was full of stars. The only downside was the smell of dead fish from the organics farm up the road but it was doable.Plus I LOVE living out here where there are no city lights, but open fields all around and we can play music outside at 1 am and no one will even hear it. It's so great!

I was reminded of growing up in Arizona. It is hard to see the stars here in the summer because it is light ALL the time and in the winter you will freeze your booty off. This was beautiful. We laid in the back of our trucks, eating goodies, talking, laughing and practically yelling everytime one streaked across the sky. Dallin entertained with evil laughing and jokes. Corban hopped from on truck to the other until he passed out at my feet. The yelling turned into 'oohs' after two hours and the clouds pulled in. Some people counted around 50. I saw about 40. Some were so spectacular. As it looked like our fun was coming to an end kids were konked out and a few of us talked gospel for a little while.

Totally worth staying up until 230 am for. I love making memories with my kids and am grateful for this one!
