Preparing for winter

Yesterday we spent quite a good chunk of our day splitting and stacking wood for the winter.
Last year we just bought propane for heating and it was incredibly expensive so we decided to use our woodstove as our main heat this winter.
It was just the right time to do it because this morning the temperature read 16 degrees in the car when I took Makenna to school.
There really is a sense of peace knowing that we will have heat all winter no matter what happens.
That is kind of cool!
We borrowed a wood splitter from our friends and it made the job so much easier than it would have been.
