Plants

Things are out of control in the house. Out.of.control! There are so many plants in every windowsill and on the table and on shelves. Next year we will have the nursery set up and all the plants will start there and then move to the greenhouse but for this year they are everywhere you can see in the house. The tomatoes in the windows on the stairs and at the top of the stairs are reaching almost more than half way up and those are BIG windows. The cucumbers are getting their little twirly vines looking for something to grab onto. Soon they will all be outside.

Also I wanted to record that Matt solved the problem of planting smaller seeds. We ordered some seeds that were pelletized for easier planting. However, when you are planting almost 1200 lettuce seeds that can take a LONG time. So Matt found htis cool idea for a seeder that is a wooden box with a plexiglass top that has little holes in it. You hook it up to a shop vac and pour the seeds on top and then turn on the vac. The seeds are drawn to the holes and hold their place. Then you put the tray on top, flip it over, and turn off the vac. The seeds are miraculously planted!

Here are pictures to show it all-

These are lettuce seeds that are being grown hydroponically. We planted on Tuesday and this morning we had little green plants already. The four trays equal about 1150 plants.
