Utah Pilgrimage Day 3
Our day started late! But after we were up and moving it was all good. We had breakfast at a little cafe called Penny Ann's. The portion sizes were HUGE! It was just a little hole in the wall place, which we have always found to be the best. I had biscuits and gravy that I might dream of for the rest of my life. Corban had something called a pancake sandwich- bacon and scrambled eggs sandwiched between two huge pancakes. He wasn't even sure how to eat it!
After breakfast we listened to conference in our room. I always love conference for so many reasons!
After that we headed down to the hotel pool and had so much fun playing games. I guess we were really loud. My friend, Nicole came to see me and said that she could hear of yelling all the way at the entrance to the hotel. Oops!
It was so good to see Nicole again. It has been well over 20 years since the last time we were together. It is nice to have friendships that can just pick up where they left off even though we have lived so much life. I have been thinking and praying about her since the visit. Sometimes we go through hard times and sometimes those times seem to last for years and years, but there is always so much good and wonderful about the every day life if we can just see it all.
After that we listened to the second session of conference and then got ready to take Dallin and Matt to the priesthood session. We dropped them off early and then went exploring. We walked around the old city hall which is a historic building that the guard told me was haunted. We walked around the city creek center and got shakes at Johnny Rockets and then also walked around the State Capitol. The trees were so gorgeous up on the hill. Everything was blooming. Bri even pointed out a daffodil that had sprouted up in a crack in the cement.
After the priesthood session let out we were waiting outside for our men. It was incredible the spirit that attended all those priesthood holders as they left the conference center. Bri and I were making jokes about it raining men and that their were so 'men'y of them.
Our day ended hanging out with Matt's cousin, Christine and her family. We had super yummy taco soup and chocolate cake. We also sat outside around a campfire and roasted marshmallows, ate s'mores and visited. It was nice to sit still for a minute. The kids played pool and a game of ball in the garage with their second cousins.
